Maybe it's because I'm old - I graduated from East High School in Rochester in 1965, with a NYS Regents Diploma (back when Regents Diploma really meant something), so forgive me for being so agitated, but I'm going absolutely crazy from hearing supposedly educated people say the Bills gave up two 1st round picks for Sammy Watkins. They arrive at two no.1 picks by counting the 2014 number 9 pick the Bills TRADED to the Browns for the number 4 pick.
Logically, you can't count that pick as "given up,", because it was TRADED for an equal or better pick (4) in the same draft. Since the Bills received a pick from Cleveland, there is no loss of a pick: 1 minus 0 = 1. It does not, and cannot equal zero. If you trade your Toyota to your brother for his Mercedes, you can't say you now have no car.
Said in simple math, the Bills gave up 2 number one draft choices, but received one draft choice back:
2 number 1 draft choices traded - 1 draft choice received back = 1 draft choice lost. (2-1=1)
I believe most of this bad math and logic is from those who criticize EVERYTHING Buffalo Bills. It's an attempt to make the Bills look bad, when they made a great move to put this team in a much better competitive position.
What do you think?
