As the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft draws ever closer - we're a little more than a day away now - rumors continue to swirl that the Buffalo Bills are attempting to trade up in Round 1.
The latest comes from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who joins a growing list of reporters hearing that the Bills are making calls trying to work out a deal to reach the upper tier of the first round. Florio's report indicates that the No. 1 or No. 2 overall pick is the Bills' target destination.
Florio also conveys that it's "believed" that the Bills are targeting either South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney or Auburn tackle Greg Robinson in their trade-up attempts. It's important to emphasize that this part of the report is speculation; league observers may think that the Bills are targeting those players (and they very well may be), but it is exceedingly unlikely that the Bills are telling potential trade partners who they're targeting.
Regardless, this rumor is well over a month old now, so it's fair to consider it something more than a rumor now that draft day is so close at hand. We'll know in about 31 hours whether or not the Bills have the ammo and the cojones to make a shockingly out of character maneuver at the top of the draft.
