Some time in the past week I had a conversation with nowhammy about the Bills taking Ebron at 9 and how I thought it was a terrible idea. Terrible might be a little hyperbolic but it was in that general vicinity.
In any event, over the past few days i've been doing more reading and research trying to get a feel for guys who will be available for when the Bills stick at 9. Assuming of course that they'll sit.
I still think Buffalo is an impact player early for the 1st pick team. Whaley here with Nix went that route, Whaley and Pitt had a mix but they picked so often in the 20's and 30's they got a lot of beef players. Buffalo's been talking about getting a guy uncovered when he's covered for years as well.
Connecting those dots i've so conveniently laid out in order to try and make a fake educated guess on who the Bills will pick at 9, I think the Bills are actually going to take him at 9.
I highly doubt in this "deep draft" Buffalo is going to be giving up 3+ picks to move up and grab anyone of these guys. Watkins being the exception but certainly no tackle or QB and Buffalo isn't going after Clowney (maybe). When I look at the top 8 guys I see a gap between the top 6 guys and 7 on. If Mike Evans is gone Buffalo can still get the type of athlete in the passing game that they covet, without moving or giving up picks.
I'm not a gigantic fan of Ebron, but it does make sense (regardless of my efforts to combat such thinking) when you start looking at impact type players when the Bills pick.
