OK so this is more of a FanRant as opposed to FanPost, but whatever.
Can I just say how insane this trade was yesterday? Extra 1st rounder + 4th rounder to move up 5 spots? For another receiver? I hear Watkins is good, that he's the best prospect since Calvin Johnson. Johnson is 6'5" and 4.35. Watkins is 6'1" and 4.43. There are only about 5 guys in the world that's 6'5" and 4.35, and one of them is a hard partying Jamaican that wants to play English football, and the other 3 can't catch. There are plenty of guys that are 6'1" and 4.43. In fact, we have one or two on our team that's probably going to get cut.
So never mind what we gave up, but what did we get? It's not just Watkins. It's Watkins minus whoever we're not going to throw the ball to anymore. Is it Watkins minus Goodwin? Watkins minus Stevie? Watkins minus Mike Williams? Don't worry about TJ Graham because he's a goner as soon as they signed Mike Williams. And don't give me the BS that we'll be able to get some trade value out of Stevie. Who the heck is going to want to assume $8.5mm salary for a guy who is not #1 and was injured for half of last season? Mark my words - 6th rounder at best.
And then this brings me back to Whaley/Brandon. It's no surprise that the 4 trustees for the Bills don't include these two clowns. Wilson left his estate to non-football people that will maximize the value for the team. These two are fighting for their football lives. It wouldn't surprise me if they offered the entire drafts for the next 2 years if they could've moved up to #1 to get Clowney. And this is why I've lost all respect for these two - they don't give a rat's ass about the Bills future. I don't believe for a second that this was a calculated risk and that Watkins was their #1 guy. They were willing to trade up to #1, #2 or #4, because they would've traded up to grab Clowney, Robinson or Watkins. They were willing to throw away the future just to protect their jobs today.
I can't wait for new management to come to town and fire their sorry asses. There, done ranting.
