Thoughts on TC Practice Day 8

Got out to see tonight's practice. With changing the time, it seemed tonight was a good night for a shorter practice. The following will be my observations and thoughts about tonight and then overall thoughts at the end.

1) I liked how Marrone had the practice structured. Been to past camps that were so much more disjointed or had no sense of structure. I think this style keeps the players more focused and is breeding positional comraderie.

2) Most of the team appeared sluggish tonight. May have been the weather. Either way, it led to the chippiness that was very prevalent tonight.

3) Speaking of chippiness, the 2nd fight of the night should get Bryan Johnson amongst the first players cut. Totally unwarranted. Kouondjio's "fight" happened because the defender took exception to him finishing off his assignment. There was lots of extracurricular contact going on tonight.

4) EJ was the best qb on the field tonight. He wasn't great and he wasn't bad. Thad had a horrible practice. Tuel didn't play very well either.

5) Easley needs to start being able to contribute more in the wr setting. He had trouble gaining separation, when he did he couldn't catch. Say what you will about TJ, but he had a better practice than people are giving him credit for. He managed to haul in a Hail Mary over his shoulder and then got rocked and still held on. He also was the #2 pr tonight.

6) Spikes showed his ability to disguise his coverage and picked off EJ.

7) Bryce Brown is impressive. Although he did get hit big tonight.

8) Nigel Bradham laid out Bryce Brown. That was an impressive hit.

9) On the Ron Brooks int tonight, Mike Willians didn't sell his route and Brooks was able to peel off and undercut the route.

10) Lots of holding called by refs on db's.

11) Kraig Urbik should only play G. TE is not for him.

12) Dombrowski needs more consistency. He could take over in a year or two if he gets consistent.

13) Saw during Goal line work, the play where Stevie juked the KC defender and Tuel threw the pick last season. This was flipped to EJ's left, and run with Williams, Woods and Flash. Woods played the role of TJ and this time the play worked. The more conventional wr like Williams makes the play work. Stevie just is too unnatural of a route runner. It's a timing route that uses a clear out/pick.

14) Duke Williams and Meeks played decent tonight

15) Cockrell had a really good night. Same with Corey Graham.

Well, that's most of my observations. Will be glad to discuss and see if any other Rumblers can corroborate my observations.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
