Chris Williams Looked Pretty Good....

Chris Williams looked pretty good against the Panthers front seven last Friday.

When you consider that the Panthers front seven is about as good as it gets..... C Willaims acquitted himself quit well in Carolina.

Williams smacked his guy real good on the third and goal play in the first quarter. He really showed power on that play.

(Fred woulda had it if he wasn't blindsided hard by Chandler's guy.... Chandler whiffed. )

On the first drive, there are only two plays that are questionable negatives. Both have Williams locate a LB after facing no linemen.

The first one, I think he got there late, as he seemed surprised the lineman vacated so fast.

The second looked like a mix up between him and Fred. Williams took Fred's right (of the LB) then Fred went left and was easily tackled.

He was fine on the second possesion.

Third possesion... Fred helps chip William's guy on on one play, but it looked like Chris was in control. Wood helped him again a couple plays later, but again it looked like woods was looking for someone to block (carolina was stunting and zone blitzing it appears trying to overload spots.)

Forth possesion Manuel out, Wood out, Williams' stays in.... Second - first and ten...legursky gets killed for sack. Next play... Williams gives lot of ground but Thad gets rid of ball complete, just in time. Third and three, good protection, thad misses -,punt.

Fifth posession, Williams still in... First play, weird play.... Panthers stunt again and williams helps out legursky while looking for someone else..... Decides to try and help the left OT while thad throws, the guys legursky was blocking bats the pass. Next play... Williams doubles guy with wood then easily picks up LB with left shoulder, nice blocking by Willaims on that play. - gain of 15 for Bryce Brown.

Next play.... Williams again eliminates more than one player from making the tackle. Gain of 10 ball to three yd. line.

First and goal from three. Williams goes to cutblock big DT, falls down but RB on other side of Williams. This causes a pile up in our favor.

Ball to 1foot line. Bills run right, - TD. Williams sort of lost ground to the DT but the play was away and didn't affect anything.

Bottom line.....CHRIS WILLIAMS looked really good against the Panthers. Especially when you consider the opponent.

Not only that, I think he showed that he can make good, positive plays (vs. Not blowing it plays). I counted three really nice blocks by Williams and zero bad whiffs.

I am happy (for myself) and everybody else that reads this that I decided to focus in on Chris Williams today.

I was getting a little depressed with the line as a whole. This picked me up a lot. I'd easily give him a B for the game.

I'd say the knock on him so far is he appears to give ground on a lot of plays but I think he knows what he can and cannot do to some extent. I also think he will play with a little more zeal in actual games (since he is a wily vet)

Again, in two games I think he had one horrible play (giants) that I am sure of. (But i am already forgetting the giants game LOlL he mighta had another poor block but not bad block.)

PS - if you never watched linemen intently, it is difficult, that is, I don't really know how the other linemen did because I just watched Williams... So to grade a whole line you need to watch each play at least five times but it will be a lot more than that as many plays are hard to figure out.. I sure hope he comes back today to help his mates look better vs. the stealers. but it is nice to know, perhaps he doesn't need to get back right away to get better..... I think it best for Manuel if he plays though.

good news.

Go Bills!
