Bills free agency: Kenny Britt drawing interest from Buffalo

The Bills need more talent at receiver, and Britt is looking for a short-term "prove it" deal. Might the two sides strike a deal?

The Buffalo Bills are showing interest in free agent wide receiver Kenny Britt, according to Britt's agent, Pat Dye Jr. The news comes via Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio, who spoke with Britt's agent on Thursday.

Britt, formerly of the Tennessee Titans, has already taken visits with the New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins, leaving all three of those places without a deal. The Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers have reportedly expressed interest, as well.

Britt is looking to sign a short-term deal to rehab his image coming off of a tumultuous final season in Tennessee, in which he struggled with drops, caught just 11 passes and was a healthy scratch for three of the final four games of the season. That was the bow that tied together a tumultuous five seasons as a Titan, and with Tennessee settled at the top of their receiver depth chart, Britt will be granted his wish for a fresh start.

A 2009 first-round pick out of Rutgers, the 6'3", 223-pound Britt is still just 25 years old (he'll be 26 on September 19). Receivers with his athletic pedigree do not often make it to free agency, let alone last on the open market this long, and Britt is still available after wearing out his welcome as a Titan.

On top of his other struggles, there are concerns about Britt's knees. He tore his right ACL in Week 3 of the 2011 season, and then struggled with issues in his left knee that limited his ability to practice in 2012 and early in 2013.

On a short-term deal, Britt is still a worthwhile gamble for a team, and his size to speed combination makes a lot of sense for a Bills team that craves a bit more height at the top of their receiving rotation. We'll see if the Bills are interested enough to set up a visit.

Update: Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Britt has already scheduled a free agent visit with the Bills...

... and the Bills have confirmed that Britt is at One Bills Drive.
