ESPN's Adam Caplan reported on Friday that free agent fullback Spencer Larsen had worked out for the Buffalo Bills.
The news is something we've heard before, as the Bills hosted Larsen on a free agent visit in April of 2013, while they were still in the market for a fullback. They signed Frank Summers after a tryout the following month, and Larsen spent the 2013 season as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Larsen, 30, has played both fullback and linebacker at the NFL level, finding his niche as a blocker and special teams player in the last few seasons. The latter has been a point of emphasis for the Bills this offseason; free agent signings Corey Graham and Anthony Dixon, in particular, are known for the work on special teams.
At fullback, the Bills brought Summers back on a one-year deal earlier this offseason, and they also have an intriguing project in Evan Rodriguez at the position. Summers participated in 164 special teams snaps last season (32.3 percent of total) and Rodriguez added 130 himself in just seven games.
