You would think Jacksonville would move before Buffalo.
I found it extremely funny to watch a 5-4 team probably fill only 40% of their seats. Did anyone else notice that. They even had one section behind the endzone sealed off (with a Jaguar logo) to probably help sell the games out. I wonder how much tickets are?
You would have to think if any team is moving it would have to be Jacksonville. I don't even think they sold out their home opener. Buffalo has great fans and I think we should give ourselves a pat on the back. We support this team like no other (maybe Green Bay) even through the toughest of times. We are due for a good season soon, and hopefully with a new coach its within the next couple years. I'd bet we see the Ralph almost full this Sunday and we are 3-7. It was funny to see a playoff caliber team (wildcard perhaps) not even come close to selling out their stadium when their team was 5-4.
Why did they even put a Franchise in Jacksonville? You think they could of done a little more research before establishing a team with no fan base or willingness to watch NFL football. This team is usually pretty solid and its a shame that they cannot sell out their games.
With the new stadium opening up in L.A, you would have to think Jacksonville would be their number one option for relocation. Any guy with business sense that buys the team after Ralph dies will realize Buffalo is a cash cow. We sell out every year with horrible football teams and horrible games to watch. Just think if this team made the playoffs, the city would go crazy! I believe once the new owner looks at the records, he will quickly realize it will be a better investment to keep Buffalo in Buffalo. It would cost him an extra fortune just to move the team (due to relocation fees and perhaps a new stadium). His real priority should be making this team good again. Then he can still sell out all the games at slightly higher prices. IMO, I don't see Buffalo moving, mainly because of us and how well we support our team. So keep it up Bills fans!

Thanks Bills Fans (from a Jag fan)
Though we haven’t had as much interaction as I’m use to on SBnation this past week, you guys truly are some of the best fans in the league. You guys are loyal to your team, knowledgeable and look on the bright side. Seriously – I feel for you guys. You are in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL and have more injuries than a bread factory has rolls. ’
I actually enjoyed the game a lot today. It had suspense. Sure, I had wanted the Jags to win with 250+ yards rushing and 40+ points… but I love hard fought games even more. Reminds me of football before replay.
I’m praying for Wood and that nasty break, and do hope the Bills can turn it around next year. A team like yours and with you fans deserves that, and a good HC. One can hope, right?
The only play I didn’t like in the whole game was that face mask on MJD. Don’t remember your player’s name… but the slamming of a player to the ground by the face mask is inexcusable and unbelievable, even if it was to save a TD (which came anyway)… so that’s my only complaint, and it is against one player – not the fans or the teams.
Until next to we play, seeya. :)

As the merry-go-round turns: Bills coaching rumors and more
Let's start with maybe the most interesting rumor of all: according to a report by Tim Graham of ESPN, Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson is willing to spend upwards of $10 million for the right head coach, but the question remains, will that be enough? NFL Network reporter Jason La Canfora has his doubts:
It's very difficult to win in Buffalo, with the Patriots in the division and the New York Jets just building a billion-dollar facility, also the Dolphins, who are No. 2 in player spending this year alone. For a small-market team in an old stadium like the Bills, it's tough to compete -- no matter who the coach is -- and these big-name coaches know it.
Now, onto my worst nightmare... Today, at 12:09 p.m., Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Bills may have interest in embattled Notre Dame head coach, Charlie Weis:
Schefter: Bills eyeing Weis
Our motto here at Rumor Central is "news before it's news", and this one is quite a bit ahead of the curve. NFL Insider Adam Schefter writes in his Week 11 notes that if Charlie Weis is fired from his current head coaching gig at Notre Dame, the Buffalo Bills may be interested in hiring him as their next head coach.
Schefter notes two points that make Weis a strong candidate: he interviewed for the position with the Bills earlier this decade -- when they ended up hiring Mike Mularkey -- and as a former member of Bill Belichick's staff, he might have a clue as to how to beat the Patriots. We'll keep you posted.
Much more after the jump, including Tony Dungy, Jon Gruden, Mike Shanahan, and yes, even Dick Jauron!

Inactive Thoughts: Week 10
Keith Ellison was placed on injured reserve this week and a bunch of other defensive starters have been ruled out. Man I wouldn't want to be playing a great running back today........ whoops.
OK so I forgot to post this yesterday so I'll make it quick. Here's who I don't think will dress this week listed in order of most likely to least likely to be standing on the sidelines:
Brian Brohm will be the new emergency QB taking GIbran Hamdan's spot there.
Marcus Stroud
Ashton Youboty
Demetrius Bell
All three have been ruled out for the game. Spencer Johnson starts for Stroud, Andy Levitre shifts over to LT and Seth McKinney takes his starting guard slot.

CFB's returning mind dump
Hey guys, been a while. I've got a few things on my mind and thought that this would be a good time to return, so lets go.

I would love Haslett as new HC
- Coaches solid defense and running game which we know is the formula for the weather and fans in OP.
- Motivates players - look what he did with a mediocre Saints team. He had no talent on the Rams when they put him in as Interim and the team played hard for him every week. Somehow has the only team any good in UFL.
- Lots of experience coaching on many levels and teams and is ready to put it together finally. Let's face it, most coaches have failures before success ie. Levy, Belichick
- Played in Buffalo - was defensive captain and understands our fans!
He is really my number one choice and I wanted him when he was hot and in demand but already working when Jauron was hired.

Mike Shanahan, How the Bills can land him.
I think most of us here are excited that Mike Shanahan is at the top of the Bills shopping list for a new head coach. Yes, we must temper our enthusiasm, we hear the talk, Ralph won't pay the money, Why would Shanahan want to come here over a major payday in Washington, but it appears he is willing to listen to the Bills sales pitch. With that in mind, I will lay out the sales pitch and strategy the Bills should use to land Shanahan after the jump!

Best Future Coach...
FINALLY Jauron is out... so what next? This is my list...
1. Mike Shanahan - Excellent QB coach, made stars out of Jake Plummer and Jay Cutler, both mediocre QBs at best. Dealt with Brandon Marshall and Elway as huge stars very well. Solid record and a great fit. Likes the ground game, but develops QBs.
2. Marty Schottenheimer - Although he was dumped by San Diego, he has a solid record and coached the Chiefs to better marks than they deserved. Proven winner and leader. Played for the Bills, as did the next guy on the list. Will pass the torch to his son when he retires, consistency is a huge plus.
3. Jim Haslett - Great motivator, did well building the Saints before he was dumped. Some of New Orleans current success must be attributed to his tenure. He was an outstanding Linebacker for Buffalo that played with heart and never quit on plays, the Bills could use that attitude right now with T. O. and others just walking away and not playing until the whistle blows. What ever happened to guys like Steve Tasker who gave it all for us? Haslett can change the attitude. Step one? get rid of the overpaid, unproductive T. O. immediately unless he wants to re- sign for 1 million or less next season, which will not happen.
4. Bill Cowher, John Gruden - neither of these guys is leaving the broadcast booth.
5. Mike Holmgren - Wants to run a team as GM or president... not going to happen with Ralf around.

On Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak
So nobody has brought this up yet so I'll throw it out there even though I don't like the idea of Shanahan as GM/HC. We'll put that to the side for a minute and talk about if he does get hired here.
Currently the Houston Texans are sitting at 5-4 and out of the playoffs in the AFC with a game against the surging Titans this week and a date with the Colts the following week. They also have yet to play the Dolphins and the Patriots at the end of the year. If the Texans lose three of those games they will certainly finish out of the playoffs potentially costing Gary Kubiak his job after four years at the helm.
When Shanahan gets hired by his new team his first call would undoubtedly be to Kubiak to be his Offensive Coordinator if he is available. Now this really intrigues me. Kubiak has been incredibly successful as an OC. Even when the Broncos defense was struggling Kubiak's offense was firing on all cylinders and with a variety of quarterbacks. Not to mention his blocking schemes opened up lanes for a menagerie of running backs' thousand-yard seasons. He seems like he'd bring an offense I'd really like to Buffalo.

3 Things We Need to Know: Weeks 5-10
So this post is a week late from when I promised it, but hey, better late than never. To quickly recap my first few posts, I think there are three things the Bills need to figure out by the end of the season in order to have a competent idea of our immediate needs and to give us a jumping point for our long-term plan.
1. Is Trent Edwards a game-changing quarterback?
No.
More seriously, the hope that Edwards could evolve into more than a game-manager has very quickly evaporated since the first few weeks when he looked rejuvenated in our now defunct no-huddle offense. The guy had a 94.5 QB rating in his first 4 games, since then, it has fallen to a pedestrian 74.1. He looks lost, and though he's not totally to blame for this team's failures, it seems as though he's regressed to the point of being unsalvageable, at least in the short term. Now everybody's looking for our QB of the future, so I'll go in a bit of a different direction - for the last 2 quarters of the season, I'm changing this question to be: Which free agent or college QB can give us the greatest chance to be competetive next year?
