The Bills’ release of Drayton Florence was as much about the team’s confidence in Aaron Williams as it was about the team’s confidence in Stephon Gilmore. Unless Gilmore totally fell on his face in camp, the plan all along was for him to be a day one starter. Williams, who was chosen with the 34th overall pick one year ago, has shown the Bills coaching staff enough for them to believe he could be ready to start as well.
Dave Wannstedt was just on SiriusXM NFL Radio Late Hits. For the most part he was on there to talk about the passing of Junior Seau, but then they started talking Bills football.
The one thing that stood out to me was what he had to say about Merriman. He said when he showed up in the weight room the other day he looked like a new man. He said that Shawne is up to 265lbs and has never looked better in his life. Said hes real excited to get his hand in the dirt and come off the ball as a true DE. He told Wannstedt that "Hes not playing in coverage anymore, hes getting after the QB."
"@Stan_Ham: Just talked to the Buffalo Bills...I'm going to NY baby!!!!! #GodIsGood"
Chad Clifton got released by the Packers today. Think he'd be worth a shot a signing him? It would let us focus on either WR or CB.
Marcell Dareus' 2012 sack numbers? Your prediction? I'll admit I don't get to watch the Bills a lot, but he had 5.5 sacks, mostly (or all, not sure) from the nose tackle position, which is crazy.
Now, he'll be playing 4-3, he'll be able to use that freakish athleticism to shoot gaps and get to the passer, and now he'll have Kyle Williams, Mario Williams and Mark Anderson around so he's either freeing up others for a sack or getting freed up for one. The main problem is if he can get to the QB before Mario, Kyle and Mark do,
Besides, I see a 7+ sack season out of Marcell.

Bills Chief Executive Officer Russ Brandon today announced that over 1,000 new season tickets were purchased and over 1,000 season tickets were renewed in the past 24 hours.
Can we get Ron's opinion on Bell/Hairston/Need at LT?
What do the numbers tell us? Many say that if we resign Bell we don't need a highly picked OT. Is that the case? Do we need one if he doesn't sign?
A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Williams is scheduled to leave town tonight.
League source on whether Mario Williams deal is done with Bills: "Absolutely not."
