Recap: Virginia Tech vs. Duke

Sports Network | November 22, 2008

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Sean Glennon completed 12-of-20 pass attempts for 132 yards and a touchdown to lead the Virginia Tech Hokies to a 14-3 win over the Duke Blue Devils in an ACC clash at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.

Darren Evans paced the Hokies (7-4, 4-3 ACC) on the ground, carrying the ball 24 times for 111 yards, while Jarrett Boykin caught four passes for 57 yards and a score.

The Blue Devils (4-7, 1-6) were led by Zack Asack, who carried the ball 24 times for 87 yards. However, Asack was horrendous through the air, completing just 2-of-9 pass attempts, while throwing four interceptions.

The Blue Devils opened the scoring up on the first drive of the second quarter, when Nick Maggio drilled a 39-yard field goal to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead.

The Hokies took the lead in the final minute of the first half, when Glennon and Boykin hooked up for a 19-yard touchdown pass.

The VaTech defense put the game away late in the fourth quarter, when Victor Harris stepped in front of an errant Asack pass and returned it 23 yards to pay dirt, giving the Hokies the 11-point win.

The Hokie defense completely shut down the Blue Devil offense, holding Duke to just 136 yards of total offense.
