Flowery Branch, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons have placed tight end Ben Hartsock on injured reserve because of a toe injury.
Hartsock, in his first year with the Falcons, was hurt in last Sunday's game against Carolina. Better known for his blocking, Hartsock has just three catches for 26 yards in 11 games.
The Ohio State product has also played for Indianapolis and Tennessee since the Colts selected him in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He has 27 receptions for 273 yards in 56 NFL games.
Atlanta filled the roster spot by signing free agent tight end Jason Rader, who spent training camp with the club and was released before the start of the season. He was signed by the Falcons again on September 17 and started against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, but was released again on October 29.
