Brees, Barber, Douglas earn NFC weekly honors

New York, NY (Sports Network) - New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber and Atlanta Falcons punt returner Harry Douglas have been selected as the NFC's top players for Week 12 of the NFL season.
Brees went 20-of-26 for 323 yards and four touchdowns, as the New Orleans Saints trounced the Green Bay Packers 51-29 on Monday night. The signal-caller had two touchdown passes of 70 yards and held a passer rating of 157.5, a new career-high, against the third-ranked pass defense in the league coming into the game. It marks his third weekly award this season and ninth of his career.
Barber had two interceptions, one of which he returned 65 yards for a touchdown, in the Buccaneers' 38-20 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. He also recorded three tackles and two passes defensed while scoring his 13th career touchdown in the game. Barber has 11 touchdowns on fumble or interception returns in the regular season in his career, which is most among active players and third in the history of the NFL. This marks his eighth career weekly honor.
Douglas had a 61-yard punt return for a touchdown, added a seven-yard rushing touchdown and led the Falcons with 92 receiving yards in a 45-28 win over the Carolina Panthers. He finished with 188 all-purpose yards and the rushing touchdown in the first quarter was the first score of his career. It is the first weekly award of the rookie's career.
Other players considered for the awards included Dallas wide receiver Terrell Owens, Washington running back Clinton Portis, Chicago linebacker Lance Briggs, Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield, New York Giants punter Jeff Feagles and Minnesota kicker Ryan Longwell.
