Falcons extend WR Jenkins, DT Babineaux

Flowery Branch, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons extended the contracts of wide receiver Michael Jenkins and defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux on Tuesday.
Jenkins, 26, received a four-year extension from the team that selected him in the first round of the 2004 Draft. In his fifth season, the Ohio State product has recorded 168 career catches for 2,093 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has 33 receptions for 498 yards and three TDs for the surprising 7-4 Falcons this season.
Babineaux, 27, earned a five-year extension from Atlanta, which took him in the second round of the 2005 Draft. In 57 career games, Babineaux has recorded 150 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. The Iowa product has 23 tackles and two sacks this season.
