Dolphins' Camarillo to miss remainder of season

Sports Network | November 24, 2008

Davie, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Dolphins will play the remainder of the season without leading receiver Greg Camarillo, who suffered a knee injury during the second half of Sunday's game against New England.

"He's not good, he's done," Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said Monday. "You don't want to lose a player like that. He's been really productive for us. The guy's been exactly what you're looking for on your football team. I'm disappointed for him."

Camarillo, signed to a three-year contract extension last week, leads the team with 55 catches and 613 receiving yards this season. He caught six passes for 75 yards with his second touchdown of the year before leaving Sunday's 48-28 setback.

This had been a breakout campaign for the Stanford product, who had just eight catches for 160 yards and two scores last year for the Dolphins, his first with the club after a season in San Diego.

The Dolphins picked Camarillo off waivers from the Chargers last season, and he worked his way up from the practice squad into a starting role.
