Giants' Burress sits out practice

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress missed practice Wednesday because of a hamstring injury.
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said he is unsure if Burress will be available for Sunday's game against Washington, terming the injury as day-to-day.
"He's very resilient, very tough guy," Coughlin said about Burress. "We're just going to have to wait and see. He will rehab as he has all along. Hopefully, that can be something that is overcome in a short amount of time, but, let's face it, it is a hamstring."
Burress left in the first half of last Sunday's game against Arizona because of the problem.
After a 10-catch, 133-yard performance in the season-opener against Washington, Burress has faced double teams and his statistics have dropped considerably. For the season, he has just 35 receptions for a team-high 454 yards with four touchdowns.
Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, who sat out last week's contest because of a knee injury, also did not work with the team on Wednesday. Coughlin, though, did expect Jacobs to participate in practice Thursday.
