East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Giants placed veteran safety Sammy Knight on injured reserve Saturday due to a nagging hip injury.
Knight sat out New York's 37-29 win over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday and also missed a Week 6 loss to Cleveland with the injury, which ended his streak of 160 consecutive game played. The 12-year pro logged 12 tackles in nine games this season, his first with the Giants.
Over 12 NFL seasons with the Giants, Jaguars, Chiefs, Dolphins and Saints, Knight has 42 interceptions, returning four for touchdowns, with 671 tackles.
New York also signed defensive tackle Jeremy Clark off their practice squad. Clark spent the 2007 season on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, having been signed by the team as a rookie free agent the same year. The Giants originally signed the Alabama product as a free agent in July.
