Landover, MD (Sports Network) - Eli Manning threw for 305 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown to Amani Toomer, and Brandon Jacobs ran for another score, as the New York Giants defeated the Washington Redskins, 23-7, at FedEx Field.
Manning finished 21-of-34 passing and was picked off one time, while Jacobs rushed for 71 yards. Toomer caught five passes for 85 yards for the Giants (11-1), who have won seven straight games since dropping a 35-14 decision to Cleveland on October 13.
John Carney kicked three field goals for New York, which can clinch the NFC East Division next Sunday with either a win over Philadelphia or a Dallas loss at Pittsburgh. Derrick Ward finished with 105 total yards for the Giants.
New York has emerged victorious in 15 of its 16 most recent away games dating back to last season and improved to 8-0 against NFC opponents this season.
The Giants were without starting wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who is suffering from a hamstring injury. Burress was also involved in an apparent accidental shooting at a New York night club on Friday evening when he reportedly suffered a self-inflicted wound to his right thigh.
Jason Campbell was 23-of-38 passing for 232 yards and an interception, while Devin Thomas scored his first career NFL touchdown on a 29-yard run for Washington (7-5), which has dropped three of its last four.
Clinton Portis was limited to 22 yards rushing on 11 carries and one catch for 15 yards for the Redskins. Chris Cooley had six grabs for 71 yards in defeat.
