Browns add Gradkowski as QB injuries mount

Sports Network | December 02, 2008

Berea, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on Tuesday, two days after signal caller Derek Anderson suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Gradkowski, a sixth-round pick of Tampa Bay in the 2006 Draft, played two years with the Buccaneers before being released in June. The University of Toledo product played in 17 games -- which included 11 starts in his rookie season -- throwing for 1,791 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Anderson was placed on injured reserve to make room on the roster for Gradkowski. Last season's Pro Bowl selection tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Sunday's 10-6 loss to Indianapolis.

Ken Dorsey relieved Anderson in the game and will serve as the starting quarterback in the December 7 game at Tennessee.

Cleveland is also without second-year QB Brady Quinn, who decided on Tuesday to undergo surgery to repair his broken right index finger sustained in a November 17 tilt against Buffalo.

In other news, the Browns re-signed wide receiver Steve Sanders to the practice squad and released offensive lineman Travis Leffew from the practice squad.
