Posluszny, Wright Sign and Walker Gets a New Offer

It must be close to training camp - there is a ton of actual Bills news breaking right now, so let's get right to it!

Fourth-round draft pick Dwayne Wright has signed his rookie contract, and as usual terms of the deal have not been disclosed. I'll keep an eye out for terms, but if any of you happen to run across them before I do, don't hesitate to leave a comment, and I'll add them in (giving you full credit, of course). That leaves just Lynch and Poz, although there's a bit of news there as well...

WGRZ.com is reporting that according to the agent of Paul Posluszny, the rookie linebacker is expected to reach a deal today. With players expected to report to St. John Fisher campus by midnight tonight, these signings are coming just in the nick of time - and getting Posluszny in from the get-go is a huge step towards solidifying our linebacking corps. Keep your fingers crossed that something truly does get done today...

Update [2007-7-25 14:36:54 by Brian G]: Just an hour later it's official - Posluszny has signed his contract and will be with the team from the get-go. I'll keep an eye out for terms once again - I'm very interested to see this contract. Good to see arguably our most important rookie isn't going to miss camp. End Update 1

Update [2007-7-25 16:48:16 by Brian G]: Thanks to applet68, a brand-new member here at Rumblings (welcome!), we have contract numbers for Pauly P: 4 years, $5 million, $2.55 million guaranteed. Also, Rotoworld is reporting that Dwayne Wright received a four-year deal as well. End Update 2

In perhaps the most interesting news of the day, WGR550 is reporting that Darwin Walker has received a new offer from the Bills. This comes as a bit of a shock to me - I was under the impression that negotiations were dead in the water. This is probably just a last-ditch attempt to get Walker to report to camp, and I doubt that the offer is substantial enough to get Darwin into a Bills helmet. GM Marv Levy had this to say on the subject (in an interview with Howard Simon):

"(Jim Overdorf) has made a proposal," Levy said. "We're waiting to hear back from the agent. We'd like to have Darwin in. If he doesn't, he will revert to the Eagles, who I think are just going to put him on 'did not report' also, and we will get a draft choice."

"We're ready to go forth regardless. Naturally, we would prefer he come, but we understand that he might not and we'll go forth on either count. We won't wring our hands over it."

Good to see he's not fussed over this - as I've maintained for a while, Walker is a good player, but he's not worth what he thinks he's worth. Let's see how this plays out, but I'm not very optimistic. How about y'all?

Posluszny's Contract

If anyone is interested the Buffalo News has reported details of Posluszny's Contract

"the linebacker from Penn State University agreed to a four-year contract worth a total value of a little over $5 million. Posluszny will be on the field when the Bills open training camp practices at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. His deal includes $2.55 million in guaranteed money."

great news! I'm extremely excited and also hopeful that they get Walker to sign. I'm not going to be too upset if they don't but he will help a weak defense.
