media continues its assualt on JP...

Most of the time I find the conduct and antics of local sports media types to be childish and-in a way-irrelevant. In another way though, I find it to be extremely relevant and extremely dangerous.

The media has the power of the pen and they often use this power to carry out their personal vendettas.  This is anything BUT irrelevant, because they have the power and ability to persuade the "common" fan, those who may not analyze every facet of the Bills like many well-informed fans on this site do.

When the media knows they can get under someone's skin, they're like sharks smelling blood in the water.  This happened to Chad Pennington a few years back when he got into a war-of-words with the New York media.  This also happened to Bledsoe in his final days in Buffalo.  The examples are endless.

Nothing gets the media more riled up then when players- or anybody for that matter - commits the ultimate sin, they criticize the media.

Welcome to the current situation.  The media was EXCESSIVELY harsh on JP Losman's post-game comments Sunday, doing everything from questioning his leadership ability to insulting his unwillingness to accept blame.

Losman didn't take this laying down and responded.

Take a look at this AP article... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-bills-ineptoffense&prov=ap&type=lgns

"ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- First, quarterback J.P. Losman questioned whether the Buffalo Bills needed a more aggressive attack to spark what's been an inept offense.

Now, he's found a new target for what's gone wrong: The media.

"I know you guys are going to make stories and try to divide this team," Losman said Monday, referring to a crowd of reporters gathered around his locker, a day after a 26-3 loss at Pittsburgh. "And I told you guys yesterday, the main thing, the main key to this team right now is to not let people or anybody on this team divide us.""
....
Evans, at least, acknowledged the Bills needed to open their attack by taking more shots downfield and keeping defenses honest.

"I don't think that will hurt any," Evans said. "Regardless what my stats are or anybody's stats are, we're just not doing a very good offensively. And that's the biggest concern."

Am I missing something?  Didn't Evans say EXACTLY what JP said yesterday and re-iterated today?  How are the two statements reconciled then?  How come the media is jumping down JP's throat and completely dismiss - actually illogically turn around- Evan's own comments?

I mentioned this in another post earlier, but it's worth repeating again... The team is behind JP.  EVERY last person on that offense is thinking the same thing as JP, JP's just the one that said it.

Mark it down though, JP took a shot at the media, and one can argue that they accomplished their goal of getting under his skin.  The ironic part is though, the members of the media have the thinnest skin of them all.  Watch for a VERY negative response tomorrow from the local media.  Guaranteed.  This is not over by a long shot.  The hit pieces will come faster then ever now.

JP was right, the media is trying to divide this team, they are trying to alienate him among his teammates.  Kudos to JP for expressing his concerns with the offensive game plan yesterday and kudos to him for not taking the cheap shots by the media laying down.

Some may say that he should have been more professional and stayed above it all, but I don't see it like that.  He's fighting for his job.  He's fighting for his livelihood.  He is, and should, being doing everything in his power to keep it.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
