Believe it or not

Aaron Schobel is going to the pro-bowl. As much as he gets criticized around here, he was selected as an alternate by his peers. With Jason Taylor dropping out because of a foot problem, Schobel is now in. go figure. It makes me think his decrease in numbers was more due to scheme than lack of ability  or loss of ability on his part.

It's all about
reputation....once you start going to pro bowls all you need to do is maintain your level of play.  I think he's earned it over his career more so than just this year.  Sack totals are stupid anyway cuz so many things factor into it.

I mean the Bills just rush 4 guys all frick'n year anyway.  Tough to get to the QB that way.  I hope to God, they blitz more next year cuz that's the only way you can get more turn overs.

Sacks
You're right sacks aren't everything, I was surprised to see that he had so many tackles(94), and 6 forced fumbles, thats a lot for a DE. Thats why I was thinking scheme has more to do with his decreased sack total.
Who would have thought I'd miss Pete Metzelaars?

Schobel
I like Schobel more than most I guess.  I don't think he played at an all-star level this season, but overall, I'd still rate him as one of the top 10-15 DE's in the league.  Mostly what I like about him is that he's very active.  He seems to get his hands on passes and deflected balls more often than most DE's and he has a knack for forcing and recovering fumbles even when he's not getting to the QB consistently.  My only problem with Schobel is that far too often he takes ridiculous routes 10-12 yards outside the pocket towards the QB on passing plays (see the 2nd Patriots game and the JAX game).  Kelsay and Denney are also prone to this pointless maneuver which makes me believe it's a poorly designed rush call by Kollar/Fewell that needs to be scrapped rather than it being laziness, inability, or fatigue on the players' part.
