New poll

Hey Rumblings gang:

As you may know, the NFL Draft Combine starts next week, and NFL Network will have coverage starting Thursday (2/21). Since I'm a college student with a lot of free time on my hands (the job search hasn't kicked into full gear yet), I'll be watching as much of the coverage as humanly possible.

I've put a new poll on the home page in regards to players you'd like to be updated on as far as their Combine performance goes. I've put up some of the bigger names that may be targets of the Bills, but left off many of the really big names. If any of you have mid-round prospects you'd like to have updates on (especially if you don't have NFL Network), let me know in this diary and I'll do my best to keep track of things while enjoying NFL Network next week.

TEs
I hate Adelphia with all my heart.  I would do anything for the NFL network, but I am moving June 1 so I will have to wait until then to switch to satellite.

I don't have anyone specific, but I really think there are 7 or 8 tight ends bunched really closely together.  Theres Fred Davis as the fairly unanimous #1 prospect at the position.  But there is then a group of Martellus Bennett, John Carlson, Martin Rucker, Brad Cottam, Jacob Tamme, Dustin Keller and JerMichael Finley (and I might be forgetting another player or two).

If anyone of those guys starts to seperate himself from the group I would love to hear about it.  Anything from reporting of times to repeating what is being said by the "experts" and especially if you see anything that stands out to you about this group, I would like to hear it.

Directv in my house!
Wish I could catch the combine results though. Dang work.

Anyways....Phillip Wheeler!

Kaiser.....I'm REALLY interested in Finley, Keller, Rucker, Bennett and Tamme. Lots of good receiving TE's in this draft. We should not touch one until the 3rd round or later. Too many other needs based on what we can probably get in the 3rd.

Of course I
Would like to see how Gholston, Groves, and Harvey do in comparison to each other, and if anybody emerges as a fourth DE who might go in the first.

Also the DT group that includes, Red Braynt, Trevor Laws, Dre Moore, DEMario Pressley, and Frank Okam.

Keep an eye
On Phillip Merling coming out of Clemson, and Calais Campbell fom The U. Both of those two should work their way up to the mid first. They are both JR's and both are huge. I especially like Merling he is big like 275 lbs. but can still get to the QB a la 8 sacks in '07.

Phillip Merling
Merling tends to remind me of the guys we already have. I wouldn't classify him completely like Kelsay and Denney, but I want someone vastly different.
Campbell is more the kind of guy I'm interested in.

Calais Campbell
Scares me...I mean he has the the tools and definitely the size in the world. Going into the year he was talked about as a possible top 5 pick, but him and all of Miami had a very down year. Now he is looked at as mid to late first rounder. I do think he would be a better fit than Merling though. My favorite is Gholston and then Groves followed by Harvey. Also what do you think about Lawrence Jackson from USC? I've heard he is a great pass rusher.

Lawrence Jackson from USC
I like him but I like Chris Ellis of VT better, they have about the same size but Ellis is faster.

Chris Ellis
I really like this guy too, and you're absolutely right that he is faster, would provide an immediate upgrade pressuring the QB and he could probably be had with one of our thirds.

Merling/Freak
I like both of these guys a lot too.  A real lot.

I might be wrong here (and please let me know if I am), but I thought/think that Merling is sort of a bigger DE, at least compared to Kelsay/Schobel.  That's what I like about him - a big guy that seems to be able to move.

I think this kid from Miami has the potential to be either a flop, or the greatest player from this draft.

[Editors note - if I awake tomorrow to reread this post, and find the comment I made above to be ridiculous, I will offer to retract it, as well as to blame it completely on Jim Beam's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.  Thank you.]

Indeed
Campbell could be a huge flop, greatest player in this draft? Um, thats your opinion but he could be really really good. And yeah I really like Merling, because Even though we talk about needing a pass rusher (which he does) he is also very capable of disrupting the run (which we were bad at too). CHEERS!

Tommy Kelly
DT from Oakland, I think he is going under the radar so to speak, I would like to get a bit on him. He is suppose to be dominant against the run.
