Looks like Rogers could be a Jet....

MENAGE-A-TRADE IN THE WORKS?

As the 2008 league year quickly approaches, there's talk of a possible three-way trade.

We're told that the Jets, Lions, and Broncos are talking about a deal that would send Detroit defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to New York, Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson to the Broncos, and Denver cornerback Dominique Foxworth and a second-round pick to the Lions.

The Lions also are looking at a trade for Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma.

VILMA IS IN MOTOWN

We reported on Tuesday night that the Lions are the favorites to land linebacker Jonathan Vilma in a trade with the Jets.

On Wednesday, Vilma was in Detroit for a physical.

Vilma was the 12th overall pick in the 2004 draft.  He has struggled to adapt to a 3-4 defense, and the thinking is that he'll be better back in a 4-3 attack.

I think a Rogers for Vilma trade makes the most sense for those involved.  I would have to imagine if the 3-way trade went through, the Jets would be giving up Robertson and a 2nd rounder, which would be ridiculously steep. If it was the Broncos giving up a 2nd and Foxworth for Robertson, that'd be even more ridiculous.

No matter what, a 2nd rounder + a player for Rogers is a little too much for my liking.  I was hoping we could get him, but it's looking bleak at this point.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

NOT SO MUCH!!
That is horrible news! The Bills need someone in the middle to stop the run. Who do we turn to next??? And if the Jets end up with our man we will have to face him TWICE A YEAR!! This is blowing up right in our face! That being said, that is a steep price to pay for Rogers.
I am a huge Bills fan! Have been since I was 5! I miss the good old days with Marv, Bruce, Talley, Ballard, Hull, Reed, Lofton and Thurman!

Very disappointing
I was really hoping we could get Rogers.  I think he would be a great fit here.  Plan B I guess, probably an early draft pick.

Time to move up
With WR and DT obviously being the team's most glaring holes and with Wilson basically coming out and saying in the Rochester D & C that he's of the canned opinion that receivers can't contribute as rookies, it's becoming more and more clear that Buffalo needs to trade up into the top 5 to grab Ellis or Dorsey.  We (correctly) cheaped out on salary last season by trading Spikes and McGahee for picks and now it's time to cash in.  Why sit at 11 and reach on a linebacker, role the dice with a receiver, or grab a defensive tackle like Balmer with so many question marks?  We have the cap space and draft picks available to move up and get an impact tackle that could finally change the course of this defense.  This roster doesn't need 10-12 more rookies depending on compensation picks and a possible Losman trade.  It's time to move up into the Top 5 and I feel both Oakland and Kansas City might make willing partners.  How about pick #11, a 3rd, and Losman to KC for pick #5?  Maybe the #11, a 3rd, a 5th, and a 2009 3rd to Oakland for the 4th pick.  Whatever- it needs to be done.  It's time the Bills stop sifting through the garbage and get proactive about fixing this sinking ship.

I like this very much.
"How about pick #11, a 3rd, and Losman to KC for pick #5"

That equates Losman to being worth the same as the 8/9 pick in the third round, according to the trade chart I was looking at.  I think that sounds about right.  KC is a possible landing place for Losman too.

I really wouldn't mind this at all, provided of course, that Dorsey or Ellis would slip to that spot.

Try and get KC to throw in that Jared Allen kid too.  We'll give up Schoebel for starters...

Yeah...
...and maybe we could get them to throw in Dwayne Bowe for Josh Reed and Tony Gonzalez for Robert Royal.  I think we're on to something!

Obviously..
The last comment was sarcastic.  But the propsed trade itself matches up even on both sides, so it does merit some discussion with regard to moving up.

They have shown they like to move up to get the guy they want.  Just never this early.

NO WAY!
The Bills had better not trade up! Both Ellis and Dorsey should be gone by the 5th pick or before. I doubt that they will move up, but rather move back up in the later first round. I like the combination of Rivers and Hardy or Connor and Sweed. I think it would be great to see a linebacker and a receiver. My gut still tells me that they will draft a corner at 11! I dont want this at all.

I think it really sucks Rogers won't be a Bill and that we will have to play him twice a year. I really wanted to get rid of Tripplett (he sucks soooo much and is not worth his contract!!) (Can we ask him to take a pay cut and give his unearned money to Lee in a extension???)

I have stated all of my wishes for the offseason in that I wanted to trade for Roy Williams, sign Crumpler and Briggs as free agents and draft a big wide receiver for the future. (How many teams could cover 4 targets down in the redzone or anywhere on the field for that matter????) All of this aside, I think the Bills sign WILFORD and a DT in free agency and they move up in the draft. In my opinion THAT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!!!

If the Bills don't do well this year do they fire DJ?? Everyone knows what that equates to = WE START ALL OVER AGAIN!!!

SOMEONE PLEASE PHONE RALPH AND TELL HIM TO GET SOME PLAYMAKERS!!!
