Marlon McCree is visiting OBD today....
WGR's Howard Simon has learned that Free Agent Safety Marlon McCree will visit with the Bills in Orchard Park today. McCree was released by San Diego this weekend.
He's a solid safety that would give us better depth that we have now. He's a better player than Wilson and would definitely push Simpson, as I believe he's a free safety, but don't quote me on that. Either way, he'd improve our depth at the position and get a proven veteran presence on the field.
Anybody heard anything regarding Bryan Scott?
Also, Sam Aiken signed with the Patriots. Haha.

McCree
2007 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 69 | Key
Alert: None
Comment: McCree is a veteran safety who was a stabilizing force in San Diego's secondary in his first season as a Charger. He isn't real tall, but has a strong body and enough size to play in the box, although he will get swallowed up at times. He is very light on his feet though and is quick to change directions. He is effective in a variety of coverages, including man to man against backs and tight ends or over the top in deep patrol. He is a smart football player who can bait quarterbacks and has a fine understanding of what an offense is trying to accomplish. McCree has good hands and ball skills. He is often around the ball and is a reliable tackler with some striking power. He is a very solid football player who does everything well, but also doesn't blow you away with any area of his game. That being said, he also doesn't have glaring weaknesses. He is a valuable starter who handles all the secondary adjustments and does a fine job.

in comparison...
Just to compare stats:
Simpson in 2006 had 77 tackles (55 solo) with 2 INT's and 1 sack. In the same year McCree had 59 tackles (42 solo), 1 INT, and 1 sack.
In 2007 McCree had better numbers: 69 tackles (50 solo), 3 INTs and 0 sacks...

Doesn't make much sense
This could just be "cover all your bases" kind of move. Let McCree come in, if he wouldn't mind being a backup/possible starter and he doesn't cost much, whats it hurt?
