In a move that doesn't come as a huge shock, J.P. Losman will start Sunday's game in Miami. Dick Jauron made the announcement in a statement released earlier this evening:
The promotion, while certainly not (officially) permanent, is deserved - as we discussed this morning. The praise, too, is deserved - but it certainly caught me a little bit by surprise. I expected to hear Losman would start followed by "Trent Edwards' wrist is not yet 100%". When Jauron addresses the media tomorrow, expect to get a full update on Edwards' condition as well as the terms of Losman's potential promotion.
I don't think I need to tell you how excited I am that Losman is starting - because, well, I tell you frequently enough already. Losman led the Bills to two victories over the Dolphins last season, so he has a track record of success against the club. If he plays well and the Bills move above .500, Losman may permanently nail down the starting job. Again.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Losman is starting this week, and this Dolphins club is not one to be overlooked - divisional opponents, especially teams with nothing to lose, are never easy outs. J.P., and the Bills, need to prove that they're not going to overlook teams this week - they've got a big game coming up with New England in prime time in two weeks. We'll see if they can avoid getting trapped by the Dolphins.
