Bills Re-Sign Safety Bryan Scott, add CB William James

The Buffalo Bills agreed to terms with Safety Bryan Scott today, adding some much needed depth to a young secondary.  After losing out on Marlon McCree, who was signed by Denver, the Bills brought back one of last season's pleasant surprises.

Last season Scott played an important role for a defense decimated by injuries. As the season wore on he became the defense's third safety and also saw extensive time on special teams. He earned starts at Free Safety in week 16 and at Strong Safety in week 17.

With good size and experience at both safety positions, Scott may enable Donte Whitner to see extended action at Free Safety this coming season.  This signing also seems to indicate the Bills will not be addressing the position any further on Draft Day.

Thoughts on this re-signing and what it means for our secondary?

Update [2008-3-18 20:41:53 by Kurupt]:In addition to re-signing Scott, the Bills have added former Giant and Eagle William James (also the former Will Peterson). James signed a 2 year deal that gives him the chance to earn #2 CB money based on playing time. The seven year vet started 6 games for the Eagles last year. The Bills beat out the Eagles, Texans and Falcons for his services.

Big up to hilliarddavid for breaking the story.
