Sometimes, certain players transcend the game of football. This is a Buffalo Bills blog, and Brett Favre is a transcendent player. Today, the legend is officially announcing his retirement from the game. It has no effect on the Buffalo Bills; like Favre's playing career, it has a profound effect on any football fan. Brett Favre wasn't the greatest quarterback of all time. Nonetheless, he's a legend. He was, at the very core of his mythology, a gunslinger. You'll be hard-pressed to find a quarterback that was as much fun to watch ever again.
