No decision from Schobel | WIVB.com
"In a telephone conversation, Schobel indicated he's in no hurry to make up his mind on whether to return. And he said family considerations are the primary factors in his decision. Schobel is looking for non-financial considerations from the Bills regarding free time, so he can spend time with his family in Texas during the season. So far, the two sides have not been able to agree on a plan."

Fordham QB John Skelton recently visited the Bills, source said.

BillBoard: Buddy one-liners
Said Nix: "We believe that the way you build a football team is by putting as many good players as you can, stack ‘em on top of each other and let ‘em compete. If we’ve got guys that are worried about their feelings and their ego and they think they’re established and they don’t want competition, then they’re in the wrong place and in the wrong game. I don’t worry again about their feelings. I get mine hurt every day and nobody cares. I go home and complain and my wife don’t care."

Bills sign WR Jackson, DB Youboty signs tender
Bills sign WR Jackson - BuffaloBills.com

"I've got a lot of speed to me and a lot of size to me and I can make plays in the open field," said Jackson. "I can make a lot of things happen."

Chris Brown goes one-on-one with the new Bills receiver.

Jackson adds size and speed – Inside The Bills
At almost 6′1″ and 218 pounds (which is what he told me he weighed in at here Wednesday), the guy has rare speed. His 40 time [at the combine] was 4.32, his 10-yard split was a 1.5. His vertical leap was 38 1/2 inches and his broad jump was 10 feet 2 inches. So there’s no denying he’s a fast and explosive talent.

BillBoard: A flier on a flier
But Jackson battled through injuries and had just 13 catches as a rookie. He tore an ACL in the AFC title game at the end of the '06 season. That hindered him in 2007. He started out on the physically unable to perform list and didn't get activated until November. He appeared in only two games. In 2008, Jackson was in a battle for the third receiver job (behind Randy Moss and Wes Welker) and was beaten out by Jabbar Gaffney. He hooked on with Denver late in 2008 but was cut by the Broncos before the start of last season. He sat out all of 2009.

Buffalo takes a chance on Chad Jackson - AFC East Blog - ESPN
"Talking to people in the organization, they misjudged how important football was to him," said former NFL linebacker Steve DeOssie, who hosts a Patriots postgame show on Boston sports-radio station WEEI. "I don't think he worked as hard as they anticipated him working. A receiver in that offense has to make some reads. He had to do a little more homework than with some other offenses, and he wasn't ready to put in the work. It wasn't a physical-skills scenario. He wasn't putting in the effort the Patriots expect, especially out of their top picks."

Youboty re-signs - BuffaloBills.com
"Another one of Buffalo’s restricted free agents has re-signed for the 2010 season. Cornerback Ashton Youboty signed his qualifying tender offer Wednesday."

Bills re-sign Youboty, sign receiver Jackson : Buffalo Bills : The Buffalo News
"Youboty appeared in 11 games in 2009 with one start. He recorded nine tackles and four pass break-ups."

NFL Draft

RT @glazeduck: @mortreport the Bills' ACTUAL interest in Tebow is ___% ? >> My guess is it's 90% interest for 2nd round.

Mortensen not seeing Clausen to Bills – Inside The Bills
"Mortensen obviously thinks one of two things. One, that Clausen won’t be on the board when the Bills pick at nine, or two, that the Bills aren’t interested in taking Clausen in round one with the ninth overall pick."

The Who's Who - Linebackers - WGR 550 SportsRadio
"The Bills could opt for a rushing outside linebacker for their new 3-4 system somewhere in the middle rounds, to help smooth the efforts of the transition. An early pick on that type of player isn’t necessary in my opinion, due to other more pressing needs." Joe Buscaglia breaks down the possibilities and ranks the top LBs.

The Shutdown Corner mock draft: Pro Day edition, Pt. 1 - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
"9. Buffalo Bills -- DT Dan Williams, Tennessee: It's all well and good to move to a 3-4 defense when the 4-3 isn't working for your team. The new problems arise when you don't have the personnel to make the switch work. The Bills need a nose tackle that can man the point and soak up double teams, while disrupting the middle as well. Williams is quick for his size, plays with great strength, and sets up in a wide base that makes him very difficult to move." Jimmy Clausen isn't in the top 16 picks.

Bills on Clausen's itinerary - AFC East Blog - ESPN
"Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen has been added to the Buffalo Bills' list of scheduled visits. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Clausen will be at One Bills Drive within the next two weeks for a private workout. It will be interesting to see if Clausen gets the same special attention from Bills legend Jim Kelly that University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow received."

Todd McShay backlash builds | ProFootballTalk.com
"[Clausen] has more training and game time in a pro system than any quarterback in the draft. His improvement from '08 to '09 was tremendous. If Notre Dame had a defense, Charlie Weis would still be there coaching. Offense was not the problem. I will agree that Clausen may have some A-hole in him but he is extremely talented. He has a strong arm and is very accurate. Plus he has played a lot in a pro system."

Watched tape of Clausen today -- like him a lot more than i did before watching it reads the field, great arm.

3 of 24 draft players Jimmy Clausen | WIVB.com
"Another quarterback prospect to examine as our look at 24 players in 24 days continues. Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen is the man in the spotlight."

Buffalo Bills 2010 Draft Preview - The Sports Network - NFL
"Though there will be some pushing for Buffalo to pick a quarterback like Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame) at No. 9, it would make way more sense for the Bills to anchor their JV-looking o-line by taking a tackle like Bryan Bulaga (Iowa), Trent Williams (Oklahoma) or Anthony Davis (Rutgers). The quarterback need might be better filled in round two, where someone like Colt McCoy (Texas) or, yes, even Tim Tebow (Florida) would offer less risk."

Three Reasons The Bills Won’t Take Tebow : Buffalo Sports Daily
Pat Moran doesn't think the Bills will take Tebow ninth, he won't be there at 41, and they won't trade up to get him.

Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey talked to premium and club season ticket holders yesterday morning. They shared their goals and direction for the team. "Don't tell me about the labor pains just show me the baby," said Nix. He's a results-oriented guy.

Preseason has 2 reg. season foes – Inside The Bills
"The Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions will be the last two opponents in Buffalo’s preseason this summer leading up to the 2010 campaign. The Bills play the Bengals in the preseason week when most head coaches like to play their starters the longest, so it will be interesting to see how both Chan Gailey and Marvin Lewis handle that situation knowing they’ll be meeting up later in the year when the game counts for real."

A look at some 'ole!' O-linemen - AFC East Blog - ESPN
"The Bills' offensive line led the NFL with 28.5 blown blocks that led to sacks. Somewhat surprising is that Fred Jackson led all running backs with four blown pass blocks that led to sacks. Bills center Geoff Hangartner rated the worst at his position in pass blocking. Also of interest to Bills fans is their former left tackle, three-time Pro Bowler Jason Peters, graded as the worst at his position."

Nix and Gailey Entertain Bills Backers | WGRZ.com
"The new gm made it clear he and the rest of the Bills coaches and front office personnel can't, and won't, worry about hurting people's feelings or ego's to upgrade the overall talent on the football team. 'I get mine hurt everyday. I go home and complain, and my wife don't care.'"

Gailey's Work Atmosphere | WGRZ.com
"Obviously it's way too early to judge whether hiring Gailey was the right move, but I like what he's trying to establish with his team early on. If the Bills are going to have any success, first and foremost, they've gotta stay on the field."

Nix wants to show Bills fans "the baby" | ProFootballTalk.com
"Talk is cheap, we all know that. It's like I've always said, don't tell me about the labor pains, just show me the baby. That's what we've got to do. We've got to show you the baby, and the baby is winning," Nix said Wednesday, according to the Buffalo News.

Gailey's Bills forecast: Mostly sunny : Buffalo Bills : The Buffalo News
"When I came here I heard, 'Oh the cupboard's bare,'" Gailey said. "The next thing I heard was the team's in disarray. The next thing I heard was the sky is falling. ... But I'm here to tell you folks, it's not. We've got some good players. We've got some good young players. They're young and they need some work. Buddy and our personnel department are going to do a great job of stacking players on players. But we've got the nucleus to be a good football team."
