August 13, 1960: Bills Earn First Win In Team History

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

Yes, it was the pre-season, but the Buffalo Bills earned the first victory in team history on this date fifty years ago, when they defeated the Denver Broncos 31-14 in Rochester, NY.

The game was played at Aquinas Stadium (later renamed Hollender Stadium), which was built in 1949 to accommodate the sports needs of the Aquinas Institute, a local Catholic High School. An industrial park now sits on the site.
