Bills vs. Jets: DE Stroud, LB Davis Will Not Play

Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 is reporting, via Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey, that defensive end Marcus Stroud and inside linebacker Andra Davis will miss the Bills' Week 4 matchup with the New York Jets. Both players were absent from Thursday's afternoon practice.

Akin Ayodele will likely get the start in place of Davis, and he'll line up next to Paul Posluszny, as Buscaglia reports that Posluszny is set to return to the lineup. Reggie Torbor was taking reps at inside linebacker at practice on Thursday, likely in the event that he'd need to play there in a pinch. Keith Ellison will serve as the primary backup to both inside linebacker spots.

Meanwhile, as we discussed yesterday, Spencer Johnson will likely get the start in place of Stroud. John McCargo and rookie Alex Carrington have been inactive through the first three games, but at least one will see his first action of the season this Sunday. Don't be surprised if it's Carrington, who could take Stroud's reps in the base 3-4 while Johnson takes Stroud's reps in nickel and dime packages.
