Shawne Merriman: "Exciting News Coming" For Bills Fans

Back on November 3, the Buffalo Bills claimed outside linebacker Shawne Merriman off waivers from the San Diego Chargers. That move re-united Merriman with Bills GM Buddy Nix, who was a member of San Diego's front office when Merriman was a first-round pick of the club in 2005.

After the initial folderol of the waiver claim, Merriman promptly re-injured himself in his first practice with the Bills, then landed on IR on November 27. As Merriman, who will turn 27 this May, is in the final year of the rookie contract he signed in '05, most believed that as his 2010 season ended, so did his short-lived Bills career.

That may not end up being the case, however - if we're reading into a cryptic Twitter post from Merriman accurately, that is.

Merriman respects Nix, and vice versa. The veteran has also come out and said that for the brief time he was a member of the team, he developed a quick and healthy respect for his Bills teammates. As the calendar flips to a new year, Merriman had this to say, via his Twitter account:

Since I said #2011 is about accomplishing its also about proving and if your a #Bills fan I have some exciting news coming!!!less than a minute ago via ÜberTwitter
