When the Buffalo Bills take on the San Diego Chargers this Sunday, they'll be without the services of break-out starting tight end Scott Chandler.
Chandler injured his ankle in the third quarter of last Sunday's loss to Tennessee while trying to pick up additional yardage after a catch. (He fumbled on that play.) The loss hurts a Buffalo offense that had just gotten some of its groove back, with Chandler playing a big part in that resurgence (nine receptions, 98 yards in the last two weeks).
Without the big-bodied tight end on the field, the Bills will use a combination of rookie Lee Smith, Mike Caussin and perhaps even new signee Fendi Onobun on Sunday.
In other news: rookie cornerback Aaron Williams is doubtful, meaning that Leodis McKelvin is in line for a start. Chad Rinehart missed practice on Friday, but is still expected to start at right guard; if he can't go, he'll be replaced by Colin Brown. Finally, the team's two starting safeties, Jairus Byrd and George Wilson, are both probable and expected to play - so there is some good news to report.
