Buffalo Bills Re-Sign SS Jon Corto

The Buffalo Bills on Friday announced that the team had agreed to terms on a contract extension with strong safety Jon Corto.

An Orchard Park native, Corto is entering his fifth year in the league, and has never been with any organization other than his hometown Bills. One of the team's integral special teams players, Corto - who missed a large chunk of the 2010 season after landing on the PUP list in training camp - finished the season with five special teams tackles, tied for sixth on the team in that department.

Corto moved back to safety in his first year playing for Chan Gailey after finishing Dick Jauron's tenure as a reserve linebacker. Two of Corto's teammates at the same position, Donte Whitner and George Wilson, will be free agents when the NFL and NFLPA hammer out a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
