Bills Draft Rumors: Florida State Coordinator Thinking Buffalo

As expected, most of the rumors swirling around the Buffalo Bills organization today involve quarterbacks. Blaine Gabbert is getting some last-minute buzz, and now, Florida State offensive coordinator James Coley has added fuel to the fire via Twitter.

"One word... Buffalo," Coley tweeted early Thursday morning.

Coley, of course, was the play-caller at Florida State, where Christian Ponder was the starting signal-caller for the last three years. Due to the fact that Bills head coach Chan Gailey feverishly recruited Ponder out of high school, their time spent together at the Senior Bowl, and Andre Reed's tweet to Ponder last week, the FSU alum has long been linked to the Bills organization.

It may be that Coley is simply feeding off of what we already know. It also could be that members of the Bills organization have been sniffing around Ponder, and Coley's aware of it. Time will tell, but if the Bills are counting on Ponder falling to them at the top of the second round, they'd better re-evaluate some things.

Editor's Note: Just received word that Coley is in town to talk with QB prospect Chad Kelly. There is still a Bills connection as Chad is Hall of Fame QB Jim's nephew. We have no way to know the intentions of Coley's tweet but it very well could be not even remotely linked to Ponder. (MRW)
