Bills Draft Busts, No. 10: DT John Parrella

With the 2011 NFL Draft quickly approaching, we thought it'd be a good idea to run down the Buffalo Bills' ten biggest draft successes and failures. I decided at the last minute to make this an "of my lifetime" series, meaning that the only busts and gems that you'll see listed here every day were picked in 1985 or after.

We're starting the series with a guy that turned out to be a pretty darned good NFL football player. John Parrella played in the league for 12 years, finishing his career with 26.5 sacks in 172 total games. Problem is, the vast majority of those games were played in San Diego, where Parrella played defensive line on a Chargers team that would emerge as a perennial playoff contender soon after he left the organization.

Parrella was the Bills' second-round pick out of Nebraska in the 1993 NFL Draft. He spent just one season in Buffalo, recording one sack and two tackles. A year later, he was already in San Diego, and about to embark on a solid career. Since 1985 - that includes 26 draft classes - Parrella is a Top 10 Bills bust to my eye.
