Ten Bills To Decide 2011, No. 1: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

I'm well aware that this is an anti-climactic way to finish this series. Every year I do this, I could easily put whatever quarterback the Buffalo Bills are rolling with at the top of the list. Which makes sense, really - there's a very good reason that the team hasn't been to the playoffs in over a decade.

This year, the Bills are rolling with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, as y'all are already aware. There's a good deal of optimism surrounding Fitzpatrick, thanks to his nice statistical output and gutsy play as the de facto custodian of a poor football team.

That's all fine and dandy. Fitzpatrick had a good year last year. This year, he needs to take full ownership of his football team - and make no mistake about it, the Bills are his. Chan Gailey can only do so much to make this guy play at a playoff-caliber level, and there's nothing he can do to help Fitzpatrick become the franchise quarterback the Bills so desperately need. Just like every year, the Bills will sink or swim depending on what happens at the most important position in sports - from an on-field standpoint as well as in the locker room.
