On Saturday afternoon, Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reported that free agent inside linebacker Nick Barnett - formerly of the Green Bay Packers - was scheduled to meet with the Detroit Lions today. With that visit complete, it appears as if his next visit will come in Rochester at the training camp location of the Buffalo Bills.
Bills wide receiver David Nelson appeared to let the cat out of the bag via Twitter, when he wrote the following message: "Met @NickBarnett at dinner tonight. Great guy and phenomenal player. Good luck in your decision bro".
Nelson is with his Bills teammates in Pittsford, having just wrapped up the first camp practice of the year earlier this evening. It's hard to imagine Barnett being in Western New York for any other reason than a free agent visit, of sorts, with the Bills.
Buffalo, as you're all aware, is in the market for an inside linebacker after the free agent defection of Paul Posluszny to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Barnett, 30, would add experience and production to, arguably, the Bills' thinnest positional group.
