Buddy Nix Sees Lee Evans Trade As An Opportunity For Youngsters

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

The Buffalo Bills had to board a plane this afternoon and fly to Chicago where they will face the Bears this weekend. Because of the traveling arrangements, we haven't heard much from the organization since they announced the trade of wide receiver Lee Evans.

Bills General Manager Buddy Nix did speak with one Buffalo reporter at the airport and WKBW's Jeff Russo has tweeted some notes from that conversation.

Nix knows that the fan base isn't going to be universally accept shipping the fan favorite to the Ravens. According to Russo, Nix said fifty percent of fans would like the move and 50 percent would hate it. (According to the early results of our poll, the split is an appropriate 83% against the deal.)

Nix discussed the rationale behind the decision as well saying that the team has five or six receivers they want to see develop. The young talent on the roster appears to have been too much to ignore.

While Drayton Florence certainly thinks the Bills offense will take a step back in 2011, Nix wasn't so sure.

"We'll see," responded Nix.
