The Buffalo Bills will not be signing free agent defensive end Mario Williams tonight, but fear not - they're still in the hunt.
Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reported earlier that Williams will not be signing a contract with the Bills tonight, and that the coveted pass rusher also has at least one other visit scheduled. La Canfora would later confirm that the visit is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, meaning that Williams has a day open to continue his visit with the Bills if he so chooses. At this point, that seems like the likely course of action.
It is not clear which team Williams has set up a tentative visit with. There was some speculation from reputable reporters that Williams was entertaining the idea of visiting with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union quickly quelled those rumors. A report also claims that the Jaguars have agreed to terms to re-sign defensive end Jeremy Mincey, but Ganguli is refuting that report, as well.
It was never likely that the Bills were going to convince Williams to sign on the dotted line in one abbreviated afternoon. Williams is still in town, at least through part of Wednesday, and the Bills' goal will remain to get a signed contract before Williams departs.
