BR Community Mock Draft: Tampa Bay Bucs Select...

The Buffalo Rumblings Community Mock Draft rolls along, with the No. 5 overall pick coming at you right now...

With the fifth overall pick in the BR Community Mock Draft, 'ausbillsfan' and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne.

"When your team is picking at No. 5, it's always going to have a plethora of needs, primarily a franchise quarterback," begins 'ausbillsfan'. "In this regard, the Bucs believe they already have him on their roster in Josh Freeman. This enables them to turn their attention to the remainder of the six 'elite' prospects in this years draft."

Much more from the GM after the jump. The St. Louis Rams and GM 'Fernando brazil' are now on the clock; remember to send your picks to buffalorumblings@gmail.com. Also, due to popular demand, we've started adding grading polls for each pick made. Those will always be found after the jump, as well.

"At the time of the pick, the players in consideration were Morris Claiborne and Justin Blackmon," continues 'ausbillsfan'. "The deciding factor here was the opportunity to not only add a player of Claiborne's ability, but to also stabilize the secondary during a time of uncertainty. The Bucs' cornerback situation is in a state of deterioration; they've hitched their wagon to Ronde Barber for another year, and by all accounts he's succumbing to the rigors of an extensive career. Combined with Aqib Talib's continuing legal situations, this pick just made too much sense not too happen.

"Justin Blackmon was considered, more as a factor of due diligence than anything," concludes the GM. "With the current roster situation in Tampa he would be a nice addition opposite Mike Williams, but wouldn't be able to provide the kind of rejuvenation to his position group that Claiborne would bring. Just as an aside, I'd like to add that if he was available, Trent Richardson would not have been the pick. Whilst he is undoubtedly talented, I'm firmly of the belief that the NFL has evolved past the time where a team can afford to lavish a first round pick on a back. If i'm taking a back, I'm going to take him when I'm picking at No. 32 and can afford the luxury."
