The Buffalo Rumblings Community Mock Draft rolls along, with the No. 16 overall pick coming at you right now...

With the No. 16 overall pick in the BR Community Mock Draft, 'kfisk214' and the New York Jets select South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram.

"Going into this process, I identified the Jets' biggest needs as pass rusher, right tackle, safety and wide receiver, in that order," explains kfisk214. "Honestly, I was not expecting my choice to be as easy as it was when the time came. To me, Melvin Ingram is a no-brainer in this spot for the Jets. Ingram can immediately step in to fill a hole in the defense, and I believe he holds more value at 16 than any of the available options at other positions of need."

More from the GM after the jump. The Cincinnati Bengals and GM 'Buffalo Bird' are now on the clock, with that pick being due to run tomorrow morning; remember to send your picks to buffalorumblings@gmail.com.

"Ingram is a player that was discussed at length by many in the Rumblings community prior to the solidification of our end positions, and with good reason," kfisk214 continues. "Ingram is a superb athlete who has the potential to be a scheme-versatile pass rusher. This is exactly what the Jets are looking for. The Jets have been pining for a real pass rushing threat. It has been well-documented that Aaron Maybin led the team with six sacks this past season and, no, Maybin does not count as a real pass rushing threat.

"Ingram is coming off of a productive season in college football’s toughest conference and has solidified his position as one of the top pass rushers in the draft with his combine and pro day," the GM continues. "He posted good numbers at both events, but more importantly, his film shows the burst, speed and overall athleticism necessary to become an impact player on the Jets defense. The questions about Ingram in a 3-4 defense revolve around his ability to drop back into coverage when need be. He improved the perception of him in this regard at his pro day, where he looked fluid in space (albeit in shorts against air). Regardless, New York will not be expecting him to drop back much. Ingram will start out by filling the role that Maybin played in 2011, with the potential to become more of an every down player.

"New Jer – York will rush to the podium if Ingram is available at 16, in my opinion," kfisk214 concludes. "The missing piece of the Jets’ defensive puzzle is someone that can consistently create pressure, and Ingram has the potential to become that piece."
