Ken Whisenhunt, Buffalo Bills: "Interest High On Both Sides"

Tim Graham of The Buffalo News reported early on Tuesday that former Arizona head man Ken Whisenhunt was the "big name to watch" in the Buffalo Bills' search for a new head coach. Whisenhunt became the first person to interview for the vacancy on Tuesday evening, when he had dinner with Bills brass in Arizona.

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports that the Bills are "very high" on Whisenhunt, and NFL.com's Ian Rapoport tweeted that "interest is high on both sides," indicating that Whisenhunt is reciprocating Buffalo's apparent feelings for him. Those reports followed Graham's earlier posting, which stated that Russ Brandon - now completely in charge of the team's football operation - is "fond of" Whisenhunt.

Rapoport came back and added fuel to the fire with another tweet speculating that Whisenhunt could eventually work with potential free agent (if he's released) quarterback Alex Smith in Buffalo. GM Buddy Nix told reporters on Tuesday that the team could look to free agency to address the quarterback position, and Smith, 28, will be the most accomplished name on the market.

Regardless of who might be playing quarterback for the Bills next season, one thing is clear: Whisenhunt looks like the current favorite to become the Bills' next head coach.
