Poll: Who Is Your Buffalo Bills Head Coaching Favorite?

The Buffalo Bills have lined up interviews with five head coaching candidates so far. Which of those five is the early favorite amongst Bills fans? Vote and discuss.

Thearon W. Henderson

Four members of the Buffalo Bills' front office - President/CEO Russ Brandon, GM Buddy Nix, Assistant GM Doug Whaley and VP/Football Administration Jim Overdorf - have been out in Arizona pursuing head coaches for approximately 48 hours now. From what we've been able to discern from various reports, the team has interviewed - or will interview - five well-known coaching candidates. Those men:

  • Ray Horton. Currently the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals. Formerly a defensive backs coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and self-described "Dick LeBeau disciple." 52 years old, and has no previous head coaching experience.
  • Chip Kelly. Currently the head coach at the University of Oregon. Known as one of the most innovative minds at the collegiate level, Kelly, 49, is 45-7 in four years as the Ducks' head coach. He has never worked or played in the NFL in any capacity.
  • Mike McCoy. Currently the offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos. He burst onto the coaching scene for his work with Tim Tebow in 2011, and is credited for transitioning smoothly to Peyton Manning, as well. 40 years old, McCoy has no previous head coaching experience.
  • Lovie Smith. Formerly the head coach of the Chicago Bears, Smith was fired on Monday after failing to make the playoffs for the fifth time in six seasons. 81-63 in nine seasons as Chicago's head coach, Smith, 54, has a Super Bowl appearance on his CV, and is still considered one of the NFL's best defensive minds.
  • Ken Whisenhunt. Formerly the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Whisenhunt, 50, was fired on Monday after a third straight non-playoff season. Made the playoffs in two of his first three seasons behind Kurt Warner at quarterback (27-21 overall in those seasons), but slid to an 18-30 mark over the last three years.

Our question for you (in the poll below) is simple: of those five names, which would you prefer as the next head coach of the Bills? Go.
