Buffalo Bills to work out Matt Flynn, per reports

Thad Lewis injured his foot in Sunday's loss to Cincinnati, and the Bills may be doing another mad scramble at quarterback this week.

EJ Manuel is sidelined for at least a few weeks, but perhaps as long as two months, with a sprained LCL. Thaddeus Lewis had about as strong a game as could have been reasonably expected in his place, accounting for three touchdowns in Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to Cincinnati, but he also sprained a foot in the loss. Now, the Buffalo Bills have brought in Matt Flynn for a workout, according to ESPN.com.

The Bills appear to have had the Flynn workout scheduled prior to Lewis' injury, likely as an insurance policy if Lewis' first start in Buffalo went poorly. It didn't: Lewis completed 19-of-32 passes for 216 yards with two touchdowns, and added another 17 yards and a score on the ground, throwing both touchdowns in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Flynn's workout is still necessary, however; even though Lewis told reporters after the game that X-rays were negative on his foot, he was also in a walking boot. The Bills have only Jeff Tuel on the active roster behind Manuel and Lewis, and they also stashed Dennis Dixon on the practice squad last week. If there is any doubt surrounding Lewis' availability for Week 7 in Miami, keeping Flynn in mind makes sense.

That said: please be okay for Sunday, Thaddeus Lewis.
