The Buffalo Bills have re-signed quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. He was set to become a free agent at the end of the league year. Jackson, who will turn 30 this off-season, wasn't active for a single game while with the Bills in 2012. ESPN's Adam Schefter tweets that it's a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million.

It also appears as if Ryan Fitzpatrick will be back with the team in 2013, if comments from the team's official release are any indication. Head coach Doug Marrone had this to say on the team's website:

"I spoke with Ryan (Fitzpatrick) and Tarvaris (Jackson) and told them we will have an open competition at the quarterback position - similar to what we will do at all positions on our team heading into our offseason work," said Marrone. "I believe that our players will embrace this challenge. We are looking forward to working with our players as we prepare for the 2013 season."

Pro Football Focus listed Jackson as the fifth-best free agent quarterback this season, calling him "capable even as a short-term option." Buffalo now has three quarterbacks under contract for the 2013 season after adding Aaron Corp and re-signing Jackson in the last two days.
