Nelson thinks Bills cut him due to injury - The Buffalo News

"It’s tough for me because I feel in my heart – and this is just me – the only reason it’s happening is because of the injury," Nelson told The Buffalo News in his first interview since the Bills informed him of their decision. "I feel if I was able to play last year, things would be different 100 percent. For me that’s the reason why; they’re not sure if I’ll be the same player I’ve been."

He's probably right. Nelson is running routes now and should be signed somewhere before training camp starts. It's another unfortunate reality of those that work incredibly hard for a (relative to their counterparts) pittance.

Inside The Bills | TE Caussin retained by Bills

"In essence Reserve/PUP put his contract on hold for a year. So now Caussin will enter the final year of his current deal in 2013 and if he makes the team and gets credit for an accrued season he’ll be a restricted free agent at this time next year."

The Bills now have a few depth options at tight end. They will likely still address the need in the draft as starter Scott Chandler is also coming off a knee injury.

Free-agency preview: Bills - CBS Sports
A quick overview of Buffalo's 2012 season and how to improve in 2013. The only glaring problem is a "return of David Nelson" line. Calling the Bills "a couple seasons away from being a playoff team," they say with a "defesne that could figure out how to stop opposing backs" that they could be in a playoff run. So that's confusing.
