The Buffalo Bills today announced the four teams they'll be playing in the 2013 preseason. Dates and times were not announced yet but a general range for each game as well as a location were released.
Opening the preseason, Doug Marrone will take his team to Indianapolis to face the Colts. That game will take place between August 8 and 11. Buffalo lost to Indianapolis a year ago, 20-13, crushing their playoff hopes in the process.
The first home game for Marrone's squad will be a week later when the Minnesota Vikings come to town. The team hasn't announced it yet but it wouldn't shock anyone if this game was the annual Kids' Night. Adrian Peterson and the Vikings' starters for a quarter are a bigger draw than the preseason finale. Minnesota comes between August 15 and 19.
The third exhibition game, largely considered the best litmus test of the preseason, is at Washington against the Redskins. It would be very shocking if Robert Griffin III played any meaningful snaps in this game coming off his catastrophic knee injury but Buffalo's new-look offense should get a fair test against Brian Orakpo's defense somewhere between August 22 and 25.
The other Kids' Night option is the Detroit Lions, who come to Orchard Park either August 29 or 30. With starters playing just a series or two, Detroit's annual preseason match-up against Buffalo won't be as big a draw as the Vikings.
The NFL's regular season starts on September 5 and with the Baltimore Ravens on the road that night, Buffalo or Toronto could host the NFL's kick-off weekend - as exceedingly unlikely as that sounds.
