Good evening, Buffalo Rumblings. I hope you're enjoying a fine summer day that has trended on the precipice of too balmy, at least here in Western New York.
It's been a bit since we've run a METATHREAD here. For the uninitiated: METATHREAD, which runs weekly during the busier points of our content calendar, is an open thread designed to give y'all a forum to talk about blog-specific matters. This includes, but is not limited to: our content, our policies, our community and our technology platform.
We've got two topics to quickly go over in this week's METATHREAD. Here we go:
With training camp a little over a month away and the regular season soon to follow, we'll be ramping our coverage back up to typical posting speeds in short order. We're looking to expand the breadth of our coverage and bring in some new blood to the writing staff, and where better to look than within our own community?
Here are a few things you need to know about what we're looking for:
- We'd like to hire enough help to add at least an additional four posts per week; it's conceivable that one person could handle this.
- The position(s) will not involve financial compensation initially, but we're open to that idea down the line if you're good at this.
- If you're interested in this gig, ideally you have an idea of the type of content that you'd like to provide to the site.
- Anyone brought onto the staff will need to be trained on the intricacies of SB Nation's publishing platform and our editorial process. (This is fairly painless, but a consideration nonetheless.)
As you can see by our site masthead, we're a pretty small staff - particularly since the venerable Jason Pieri is serving our country, and is therefore not persistently available. We'll keep on keepin' on if we can't find another staff writer or two, but in an ideal world, this community will have a new voice to listen to this fall. If you're interested, just shoot me an email with a writing sample or two: email@example.com.
UPDATE, 6/27: We have had over 60 applicants for the writing opportunity; suffice it to say that there are a lot of talented people within this great fan base of ours. We've added one contributor already and are still talking to a few more about potential roles, so consider the application process closed. Thanks for all of the interest, Bills fans.
It's back: the Buffalo Rumblings Podcast
It has been several months since Brendan Harrington, Matt and I sat down to record an episode of the Buffalo Rumblings Podcast. No longer! This very evening, the three of us will be recording a 'cast to recap the off-season and look ahead to training camp. And it keeps getting better! Starting in late July, when the Bills get back to work, our show will become a weekly affair for the foreseeable future. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the next episode; we'll have more on our plans in the near future.
Consider this conversation open. What's on your mind about your favorite Bills blog, Rumblers?
