Buffalo Bills news, 6/8: current Bills starting for Super Bowl Bills

One local reporter asked if any current Bills would have started on the Super Bowl teams. Some like Jairus Byrd make sense, while others like Stevie Johnson are very debatable.

Inside The Bills | Fan Friday 6-7

Chris Brown compares offensive speed, talks Buddy Nix assessments, laments Marcus Easley's latest injury, and discusses Buffalo's interest in Karlos Dansby, the stadium renovations, and Doug Marrone's visor. Always a must-read on a Saturday morning for me.

People's Poll: What current Bills would've started for Super Bills? - Press Coverage | The Buffalo News

I think Stevie Johnson is the most intriguing name on the list. Is he better for that team than James Lofton or Don Beebe when his role would likely be similar to Andre Reed's? I'm not sure. I also think the 25% of folks who voted for C.J. Spiller over Thurman Thomas are nutso. I love me some C.J. but... Thurman Thomas.

"Blatnick has certainly executed thus far and the Bills coaching staff has taken notice. Blatnick has been rotated in at times with linebacker Jerry Hughes for first team reps as an edge pass rusher. With the increased reps, Blatnick sees not just an opportunity to make an NFL roster, but a chance to earn some time on the field."

Well respected number cruncher K.C. Joyner cites specific metrics when making the case that with Manuel in the lineup the offense will improve from that of a season ago. In fact in Joyner’s words, "the metrics show there is a good chance Manuel could help the Bills field a top-10 offense in 2013 if he is the starter."

AFC East offseason grades - AFC East Blog - ESPN
The quote and the grade don't match up. He liked what the Bills did at the most important position on the field but ended up with a C-plus. This is Matt Williamson, so don't go bashing James Walker.

Eight in the Box: Rookie eye-catchers - AFC East Blog - ESPN
"Rookie wide receiver Robert Woods was one of my favorite players in this draft, and he is already living up to his reputation of being an NFL-ready player. The second-round pick and former USC product is gaining the inside track for a starting job during organized team activities."

Ranking the NFL wide receivers - NFL.com
Stevie Johnson is No. 28 - one spot ahead of Wes Welker but one spot after Eric Decker. He's probably not going to be happy with this ranking.
